A British 1918 General Service Medal with Clasp, Cyprus,  awarded to 23299057 Guardsman G. B Darnell, Grenadier Guards, with the date of the service number he was a member of the 3rd Battalion, deployed to the island in December 1956. Operating out of locations like Limassol, they were deployed to counter escalating violence and maintain peace during the tense transition towards independence, ultimately departing in the summer of 1957.
