A WW2 Soviet Medal for the Capture of Vienna, the medal is complete with its original pin fitting and ribbon and is in VG++++ condition.
 
Instituted on June 9, 1945, to commemorate the Red Army’s successful offensive that led to the capture of the Austrian capital in the final months of World War II. Struck in brass, the medal features the inscription “ЗА ВЗЯТИЕ ВЕНЫ” For the Capture of Vienna” beneath a five-pointed star and laurel branches on the obverse, symbolizing victory and martial glory. The reverse bears the date “13 АПРЕЛЯ 1945” (“13 April 1945”)—the day Vienna fell to Soviet forces.
