WW2 Original British Airborne Oversmock

A Scarce British Airborne Oversmock pattern 1942 , the Smock is in Unissued condition. The zip is in great condition and in full working order. Also comes complete with 'Monkey tail' with all poppers present and working, thare are no rips or tears throughout making this a really lovelly smock, unfortunately the sizing label is no longer present. Excellent condition.
 
During WW2, British Para over-smocks were sleeveless, green denim garments worn by airborne troops over their Denison smocks and webbing to prevent parachute rigging lines from snagging. These over-smocks feature a full-length zip, a tailpiece to prevent the garment from riding up, and elasticated pockets for grenades. They were discarded after landing.  The primary purpose was to provide a smooth, snag-free surface over the webbing and Denison smock, preventing the parachute's rigging lines from catching and causing an accident. ​​​​​​​The elasticated pockets on the lower front of the over-smock were designed to hold grenades.
